With the release of 'Kylie Christmas (Fully Wrapped)', we couldn't resist the chance to chat to Kylie Minogue all about her new album and her experience of Christmases throughout the years.

The 'I Should Be So Lucky' singer joined Ken Bruce on Greatest Hits Radio to chat about her new music, revealing what it was like to be releasing a new version of her Christmas album with four added songs - ‘Office Party’, ‘XMAS’, ‘Hot in December’ and ‘This Time of Year’.

'Kylie Christmas (Fully Wrapped)'

'Kylie Christmas (Fully Wrapped)' was released to mark the 10th anniversary of her Christmas album 'Kylie Christmas', and features extra songs. One of the original songs from the album was called '100 degrees' with her sister Dannii Minogue and the singer explained how it came about.

Remembering her Australian Christmas traditions as a child, Kylie explained: "We inherited Christmas traditions, largely from here (UK) and we would put the fake snow on the windows, and I think we just rolled with it.

"And when I first made 'Kylie Christmas' 10 years ago I took on the British with that... We needed a song about (a hot Christmas). There really was not much that spoke to an Australian Christmas and that led to the song '100 degrees' with my sister Dannii.

"So that is very much about family, but nowadays I think Aussies, we still have some sort of leftovers, shall we say of what is tradition in your family, but I would say, generally Aussies embrace an Aussie Christmas. We don't feel the need to have fake snow."

Kylie also opened up about recording the new songs for her album saying: "It was so nice to go in the studio just without any pressure. This wasn't reinventing the wheel, this wasn't like, what's the new album? What's the new era? It was just, let's revisit an old friend.

"It's turned out there's four completely different genres and feels of these new songs, and they happened with a lot of joy and celebration, and I think you can hear that on the record. It's interesting how new songs can enhance the old songs."

Christmas in Australia

With Christmas in Australia literally a world away from ours in the UK, including BBQs on the beach, in the height of their summer, Kylie reminisced about some of her early Christmases in her native Australia.

Chatting to Ken she said: "I think being summertime and being... it's our long school holidays, so you've finished your year. Next year you're going to the next level."

She continued: "It was seismic as a kid. It literally was the best time ever. And you've got the Christmas countdown, and then you've got Christmas presents, and maybe caravan holiday, or you go to the beach or something. It really was the best, so once one has to ‘adult', it's not quite the same.

"But being able to share it with my nephews and my family, yeah, it's definitely slightly different to being a kid, but all the same, it is the time where we come together and take stock, try to get through Christmas and really look forward to Boxing Day."
