Bebe Rexha recorded a MASSIVE 13 music videos in just THREE days
She’s returned with a euphoric banger sampling a 90s dance hit
Just last week, Bebe Rexha dropped a massive banger in the shape of ‘New Religion’, which samples ‘Insomnia’ by Faithless. Following the song’s release, Bebe joined us at Hits Radio Breakfast to chat about her new track and her return to dance music as an independent artist.
The singer, who has her fourth album 'Dirty Blonde' due out later this year, has been asking her fans to vote on which song should be released next, revealed that they recorded a massive 13 music videos in just three days.
'New Religion'
Chatting to Fleur East, Will Best and James Barr, about her new song, Bebe said: "This is the only sample on the whole album, ‘Dirty Blonde’. And I was like, I don't know, this was one of the first songs that we did. But what we did, which is really important, is we shot 13 music videos in three days."
Giving her fans a taster of what's to come in the upcoming album, Bebe explained how they achieved the huge feat. "A really incredible team of people," she said.
"I feel really blessed now being independent, so I shot music visuals for each video, put them into a four-minute thing, Diplo did the mega mix for me and we put them online and we're letting fans vote."
The singer added: "And ‘New Religion’, which is the Faithless sample, has like 200,000 votes."
Getting out of the Khia Asylum
Jokingly she said: "They're like kind of threatening me online, they're like, 'Babes, if you don't go with ‘New Religion’, like it's over for you.'
"Like, 'If you can't see... this is the one to get you out of the Khia Asylum'."
For those who don't know, the Khia Asylum is a fictional prison where pop artists who have lost mainstream relevance end up. With our very own Fleur East putting herself into the Khia Asylum after releasing her huge hit 'Sax' in 2015, admitting: "I had a moment and then obviously I haven't had a hit since!"
Over the years, Bebe has dipped her toe in many different genres, including country, pop and dance music, with one of her most successful tracks being a collab with David Guetta, which sampled another 90s dance tune. Back in 2022, ‘I’m Good (Blue)’ rose to the top of the charts around the world, and filled dancefloors across the planet. Now it looks like Bebe’s latest song, as she returns to dance music, could do the same.
The infectious song, which heavily features ‘Insomnia’ by Faithless has been applauded by the band themselves who commented: 'Excited to be a part of this new era @beberexha ⚡️congrats!'.
To celebrate the release of the song, Bebe took to social media to share her excitement, revealing how the song is her ‘love letter to music’, helping her when she was in a ‘dark space’.
She wrote: 'When I started this new era, I was in a dark place. I was frustrated, angry… and really depressed. I felt like I was in a cage, and no matter how loud I screamed, I was stuck. And I honestly didn’t know how I was going to break out of it.
'So I went back to the one thing that has always made me feel something: dance music. When the bass hits your chest and you lose yourself in the music, nothing else matters. That’s where I felt free again.
''New Religion' is my love letter to music. My sanctuary. My salvation on the dance floor. It’s about remembering that music has always been there for me, through every high and every low.
'I’m beyond grateful that Faithless allowed me to use such an iconic dance record. That means more to me than you know.
'I can’t wait to perform this live. I can’t wait to hear it at festivals, in clubs, at parties, on the radio. But most of all, I can’t wait to share it with you.
'This one is from my heart. 🖤
'Love, Bebe'.
