RAYE has already had what seems to be the best year of her life so far - and it's only May! After releasing her second album, the masterpiece that is 'This Music May Contain Hope' in March, she's currently on tour all over the world, serenading fans with her incredible songs.
In amongst the business of tour life, RAYE has managed to find time to bestow the gift of her gorgeous vocals once again in a stunning live performance over in the US, teaming up with songstress Alicia Keys for a duet on American Idol.
Taking to the stage, Alicia began to sing her signature tune, 'Fallin'' - originally released in 2001, if you can believe it's been that long. Her seemingly effortless piano playing accompanied her just-as-effortless vocals as she sang the well-known tune.
However, fans were thrilled to see that, halfway through the song, Alicia paused for a moment to let her collaborator enter the stage - and who should it be, but woman of the moment RAYE.
In what could be one of the most perfect vocal pairings of all time, Alicia and RAYE then sang the rest of the song together - their tones blending sublimely as the audience and judging panel seemed utterly enraptured.
Fans online took to the comments to share thoughts of awe and wonder, with many discussing how RAYE appeared to hold back her full capabilities just a little in order to not overshadow Alicia's singing.
One wrote: 'RAYE is an amazing vocalist. This duet was FIRE,' as another added: 'Ok but Alicia’s vocals sound so healthy and smooth still??? And my queen Raye, she sang it in her style which I appreciate rather than just sing it the way Alicia would and thats true artistry,' as one other commented: 'I love how Raye didn't go all out with her vocals to not overshine Alicia out of respect.' RAYE took to Instagram to mark the moment too, sharing a clip of the performance alongside the simple caption: 'ALICIA KEYS I LOVE YOU ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜.' (sic) Alicia also posted about the duet, sharing an incredibly complimentary caption about RAYE.
She wrote: 'What a beautiful night ✨ Sharing the stage with my brilliant sister RAYE …celebrating Songs in A Minor was pure MAGICCCC!!!!!! Did y’all feel that!!!?? There’s something so inspiring about being around artists right before they step into a huge moment. You can feel the passion, the focus, the gratitude… all at once.' (sic)
