Hits Radio's Sam Thompson is turning his own ADHD journey into something hopeful for younger readers, announcing his first children’s book, You, Me & ADHD. The former Made in Chelsea star and broadcaster has already been praised for speaking candidly about his late diagnosis, and now he is channelling that honesty into a warm, supportive guide for children and their families.

In a deeply personal Instagram carousel post of the book alongside his family, he explains why this is the book he wishes he’d had growing up.

He began the caption: 'Hi guys, I didn’t know how I wanted to announce this as nothing seems big enough or special enough for what this means to me, but here we go. Today marks the announcement of my first ever children’s book - and it’s all about ADHD.

'This is the book I wish I’d have read as a child. And to be honest, I wish my parents had aswell… There are bits in this that have made me really emotional as it genuinely feels like I’m talking to my younger self. To be able to get to read this to my nephew as he grows older will be a moment I’ll never forget. I really hope it helps other children on their own journeys with ADHD.

'This feels WILD to say but You, Me & ADHD is out in May and your support would mean the world to me.'

Sam continued: 'From the moment I spoke about my ADHD in the jungle over 2 years ago, I’ve received nothing but love and support. I couldn’t feel more lucky. I’ve had so many messages and have been lucky enough to meet so many of you who have experienced similar things with neurodiversity which has been the best part of being so open and honest about my diagnosis. I feel like I have a HUGE family and every person who comes up to me and talks to me about their own experiences makes me realise how lucky I am to get to talk to such brilliant people (...)

'To any neurodivergent reader young or old reading this….you are perfect just the way you are 🥹❤️'.

Sam's followers took to the comments section to express their support for the upcoming publication, with one user writing: 'This makes me feel so emotional. A child with ADHD is so much more than a ‘hyper kid’ or someone who can’t focus or they’re a bit naughty. For them and their parents to have something like this available, is truly magical. Gorgeous ❤️'. (sic)

Another wrote: '@samthompsonuk you are amazing person! You should be so proud of yourself, you are full of good energy. You have a loving girlfriend, family and amazing friends ❤️'. (sic)

Newly-appointed Hits Radio presenter Marvin Humes also joined in with the supportive messages, writing: 'Love it brother! Proud of you always ❤️', while former The Only Way is Essex star and best friend Pete Wicks wrote: 'Proud of you 🖤'. (sic)

What is You, Me & ADHD about?

Penguin Publishing notes the book is filled with: 'Funny stories and honest insights into the challenges of ADHD, and the positive bits too'. As well as: 'Tips and activities for managing and embracing ADHD'.

The book also contains: 'Advice for parents and carers on how to support children in their ADHD journey'. Adding: 'This funny, heartwarming and hopeful book is the perfect reminder that ADHD is nothing to be ashamed of. Having a difference is something to celebrate!'

What is Sam's relationship with ADHD?

The bio for Sam's book reads: 'Hi! I’m Sam. And I have ADHD.

'I only found out when I was 30 years old, but my life has always felt like a bit of a rollercoaster. Sometimes, I get distracted during conversations and forget to listen. I often start new tasks before finishing the old ones. I’ve been known to lose my temper when things feel overwhelming. And once or twice I even cried into my textbooks at school when it all got too much.'

Adding: 'But guess what? I’ve also discovered that ADHD can be a superpower! I’ve found things I love and become super passionate about them. I’ve worked hard to be the best I can be at what I enjoy. And now I know that ADHD isn’t a bad thing – in fact, I wouldn’t be me without it!'

When is the book out?

You, Me & ADHD is out on paperback, Ebook and audio download on 14th May 2026.
