A councillor in the West Midlands has resigned following an investigation by ITV News that revealed him making racist comments about Asian families.
Alan Feeney was filmed calling Asian families "parasites" and suggesting that no more than one percent of the UK population should be non-white.
After facing significant criticism, Feeney resigned from his positions on Solihull Borough Council and Birmingham City Council.
He also stepped down as deputy mayor of Solihull and withdrew from Reform UK.
His job as a prison custodial manager is currently suspended, and he has issued a sincere and unreserved apology.
By-elections for his council seats will be scheduled soon, as informed by the councils.
Earlier Robert Jenrick, Reform UK's Treasury spokesman, defended the party’s vetting processes amidst allegations of fostering a chauvinistic culture.
Jenrick stated that "all political parties have bad apples" and insisted that Reform UK has strong vetting procedures.
He mentioned that councillors who used racist language were suspended or asked to resign.
ITV's investigation, "Undercover: A Year In Reform," will be broadcast on Sunday 18th October 2026 at 10.20pm.
