Double murder investigation launched in St Leonards

A double murder investigation has been launched in St Leonards, Sussex, after the bodies of a man and a woman were found in a property this morning.

Police were called to an address in Seven Acre Close shortly after 4.30am today (30th June) where the 66-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were discovered.

A 58-year-old man has been arrested and is being questioned by police.

Detective Superintendent Jay Mendis-Gunasekera has stated that this is a tragic loss of life and extended condolences to the victims’ families and friends.

The investigation is progressing rapidly, and it has been confirmed that the suspect and victims were known to each other.

At present, police are not seeking any additional suspects connected to the incident.

A heightened police presence will be maintained in the area as enquiries continue.

Authorities are encouraging anyone with pertinent information, including CCTV, doorbell, mobile phone, or dashcam footage, to report it online or call 101, citing Operation Newington.
