London Fire Brigade (LFB) said around 60 firefighters and eight fire engines were called to Nutmeg Lane in Blackwall at 4.50am on Saturday.

The fire involved a battery room containing lead-acid batteries.

The cause of the blaze, which was brought under control before 7am, has not been determined.

Crews from Poplar, Millwall, Plaistow, Stratford, East Ham and East Greenwich attended the incident, LFB said.
