Man avoids serious injury after being shot in foot in Gorton

Crime scenes are in place following a shooting in Gorton.

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed a man was hit in the foot by an unknown man on Highgate Crescent in the early hours of this morning (Saturday 20th September 2025).

It's been confirmed he's avoided serious injury.

Officers say they don't believe the incident is linked to gunshots in Newton Heath earlier this week.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said:

"Officers responded to reports of a firearms discharge on Highgate Crescent in Gorton at around 12:15am this morning (Saturday 20 September).

"A man was shot in the foot by an unknown man, who fled from the scene.

"Firearms officers attend and located a bullet in the victim’s shoe. Thankfully, the victim suffered only a graze and no serious injuries.

"We believe this incident is not linked to the firearms discharges in Newton Heath earlier this week.

"A scene remains in place, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing."
