Newcastle United have announced defender Emile Krafth will leave St James' Park when his contract expires this summer.

The Sweden international, who's played 106 times for the club, has been on Tyneside for the last seven years.

Krafth will be thanked for his service at tomorrow's Premier League match against West Ham.

Emil said: "I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to represent this incredible football club for the past seven years. It's been a huge part of my life, I've made some amazing memories here and Newcastle is somewhere I've been really proud to call home.

"I've had up and down moments on a personal level and some difficult times with injury, but I've always felt such brilliant support from the fans, my team-mates, the coaching staff and everybody connected to the club. This is something I will remember forever and want to say a massive thank you for.

"It's been a privilege to wear the shirt and especially to play a part in a team that has managed to make history in the last few years. I believe the future is really bright for this club and I'll be following the journey closely and continuing to support from a distance."

Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe added:

"Emil has embodied what it means to be a Newcastle United player on and off the pitch. He's been a brilliant servant to the club and he absolutely deserves the send-off that I know he'll get at St. James' Park this weekend.

"Emil can be really proud of everything he has achieved here. He's been a big part of our success over the last few seasons and although he's been unfortunate with injury of late, he's played a valuable role behind the scenes with his positive mentality and outstanding professionalism.

"I can only speak highly of Emil as a player and a person, and I speak on behalf of all the backroom staff in thanking him for his commitment and wishing him the very best of luck in whatever comes next."

Sporting Director Ross Wilson said:

"I offer my thanks to Emil for his seven years at Newcastle United and wish him well for the next chapter of his career.

"Emil has faced personal setbacks this season but has shown resilience and dedication throughout, always putting the team before himself.

"It's clear how respected Emil is by his team-mates, the staff and the supporters, and Sunday's game gives everyone at St. James' Park the perfect opportunity to show their appreciation for his contribution to the club."
