Man saved after nearly being crushed by a bin lorry

A man was rescued from a refuse lorry in Bristol after being tipped into the truck during bin collections in St Paul’s.
Bristol Waste crews spotted the person and quickly stopped the machinery, preventing what could have been a tragedy.
Director of operations Ricky Gayfer said, “The crews followed their training and procedures and acted quickly. It's thanks to them that this didn't end in tragedy.”
The company is treating the incident with “utmost seriousness” and has launched a full investigation.
The man didn’t appear to have any injuries and declined ambulance help.
Bristol Waste urges people not to seek shelter in bins and plans to work with city organisations to spread the message.
