The Mayor of London's said he is determined to do everything to make sure women feel safe wherever they are in London.

Sir Sadiq Khan has released a statement on the fifth anniversary of the murders of Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman.

They were found dead in Fryent Country Park in north London in June 2020.

The investigation into their deaths exposed failures in the Met police - today Sir Sadiq Khan vowed to continue to work with the force to raise standards.

He said:

"Today we remember Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman on the fifth anniversary of their heartbreaking murders."

"The investigation into their deaths exposed alarming failures in the Met police, and I’m determined to do everything I can to ensure women feel safe and are safe wherever they are in London. I’ll continue to work with the Met police to raise standards and build a safer London for all.”

'Satanic' pact

A teenager Danyal Hussein was jailed for at least 35 years for their murders as part of a Satanic blood pact.

The Old Bailey heard the 19 year old had embarked on a "campaign of vengeance" against random women in a failed bid to win the Mega Millions Super Jackpot lottery prize of £321 million.

Police tracked him down through DNA and uncovered a handwritten pledge to a demonic entity to kill six women every six months, which was signed in blood.

Following Hussein's conviction, the sisters' mother, Mina Smallman, said she had "never come across such evil".

Police misconduct

Two Metropolitan Police officers later pleaded guilty to sharing photos of the bodies of two murdered sisters on WhatsApp.

They were assigned to protect the scene after the sisters' bodies were found.

They were jailed for two years.

Former Met Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick issued a public apology in 2021 on behalf of the force to the family.
