The bodies of two people have been found dead in a burnt out car near Fort William.

Emergency services were called out to a report of a vehicle fire on the A830 at Corpach at around 3am on Saturday.

Formal identification has yet to take place, but the families of a 16-year-old boy and a 44-year-old man have been informed.

Police Scotland say it's understood the single vehicle collision, involving a blue Vauxhall Astra, happened at around 1.45am.

The road was closed to allow for a crash investigation to be carried out and fully reopened at at around 7pm last night

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

Sergeant Calum MacAulay said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the people who died in this crash.

“It’s vital we establish exactly what happened and I’m appealing for anyone with information to come forward. If you were on the A830 in the early hours of Saturday morning and saw anything which may help, please come forward.

"I’d also appeal to drivers with dash-cam footage of the area around the time to review this for anything significant.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 0389 of 21 February.
