Man arrested after failing to stop for police before crashing on the A96
He is due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court at a later date
A man has been arrested after failing to stop for officers, then crashing on the A96.
The incident started at around 2.20am today with a car failing to stop on the Inverness to Aberdeen route.
A short time later it was found, having crashed on the trunk road's junction with the B9092 near Nairn.
The 32-year-old driving the vehicle along with his female passenger were taken to Raigmore for treatment.
The driver has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
He has been released and is due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court at a later date.
The road was shut for just under five hours.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2.20am on Friday, 27 December, 2024 a car failed to stop for officers on the A96.
"A short time later it was traced, having crashed, on the A96 at the junction with the B9092.
"The male driver and female passenger were taken to hospital for treatment.
"The 32-year-old male driver was arrested and charged in connection and has been released on an undertaking to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court at a later date.
"The road was closed and re-opened just before 7am."
