'Enquiries ongoing' after man's death in Strathpeffer

A man who died in a Ross-shire village may have been involved in an "altercation", as police launch a witness appeal.

Emergency services were called out to the Main Street area of Strathpeffer last night at around 7.35pm, after police received a report of the death of a 63-year-old man.

After the death was initially treated as a 'medical matter,' officers say he could have been involved in an altercation with a group near 'The Square.'

The death has now been reported to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service and a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

Police Scotland are urging anyone with relevant information to contact them.

A spokesperson said: "A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.35pm on Monday, 20 April, 2026, police received a report of the death of a 63-year-old man in the Main Street area of Strathpeffer.

"From our enquiries so far, we have established the man may have been involved in an altercation with a group in the vicinity of The Square, Strathpeffer.

"As a result, the death has been reported to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service and a post mortem examination will be carried out in due course.

"Anyone with any information regarding the death or the prior altercation, is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 3069 of Monday, 20 April, 2026."
