Elgin City have suspended first-team manager Allan Hale with "immediate effect."

The Moray club say the decision has been made "pending an ongoing investigation" and will make no further comment until the investigation has finished.

A spokesperson said: "Elgin City Football Club can confirm that the 1st team manager has been suspended from his duties with immediate effect, pending an ongoing investigation.

"The club will make no further comment until the investigation has concluded."

This comes five days after Hale led Elgin to a sixth placed finish in Scottish League 2, ending the season with a 1-0 home defeat to Stranraer.

Yesterday, the club announced contract extensions for defender Miko Virtanen and midfielder Brian Cameron, while goalkeeper Thomas McHale left Elgin after eight years at Borough Briggs.

Six other players also left.
