Description of Inverness attacker released as victim remains critical

A 21-year-old man was found injured on Telford Street on Sunday night after he was seriously assaulted in the city

A 21-year-old man remains in a critical condition in hospital, three days after he was found injured following a serious assault in Inverness.

Officers believe the man was attacked on Madras Street I the city centre at around 11.20pm, before being discovered a short time later on Telford Street.

He was taken to Raigmore Hospital where his condition is still described by staff as critical.

Officers are now issuing a fresh appeal for information about the incident.

The suspect is described as a man around 5ft 8in to 6ft of medium build, and he was wearing dark-coloured clothing, including a black padded jacket with a hood and a light-coloured hat, which may have been of a beanie style.

Detective Inspector Caroline Mackay said: "Our inquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and who may have seen anyone matching the description given to get in touch.

"We are particularly keen to speak to anyone with dashcam, doorbell or other recorded footage which could be relevant to our investigation.

"I would also like to thank members of the public for their co-operation and assistance so far as we continue our inquiries."
