A polar bear is back in the Cairngorms after his Yorkshire holiday, and he's brought his cousin back with him.
Four-year-old Brodie has returned to the Highland Wildlife Park, near Kincraig, after spending just under a year away to allow for some renovations in his home.
During his time at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Brodie became close with 14-year-old polar bear Luka, who has now joined him in the Highlands.
Animal operations manager at Highland Wildlife Park, Lucy Petrie said: “The boy is back!
"We’ve all really missed Brodie so are thrilled to have him back with us.
"We’ll have our work cut out.
"He’s young, energetic, confident but also a wee bit naughty.
“Brodie loves playing and testing boundaries, trying to pinch food and generally making a bit of a nuisance of himself.
"Luka is fourteen so he doesn’t have plenty of patience for Brodie’s scampish ways.
"His whole attitude is ‘I’m too old for this’ and that really balances them out.
"It’s a lovely relationship.”
The decision to move Luka was made in cooperation with the EAZA Ex situ Programme (EEP), the European population management and breeding program that protects species and maintains genetic diversity
The recent habitat renovations have improved the comfort and quality of the bear’s indoor area, water pool and fencing.
There are now four polar bears at the Highland Wildlife Park who are all related.
Walker and Luka are brothers and cousins of Brodie. Arktos is Brodie’s father
Brodie's mum, Victoria, was euthanised last year due to age related health problems.
