Author: Dave GallowayPublished 1st Jan 2026

Upgraded amber weather warnings have been issued for north and north east Scotland.

The Met office forecast blizzard conditions, between 12 noon Friday and 12 noon Saturday, with up to 20 centimetres or 8 inches of snow possible for some areas.

We're warned of delays and cancellations to rail and air travel with likely hold-ups on the roads, where some vehicles could become stranded.

Some rural communities could be cut off and power cuts are likely.
