Although South Korean dystopian thriller Squid Game is now over, it looks like Netflix are keen to cash in on the record-breaking show, with yet another spin-off coming soon.
Alongside Squid Game: The Challenge, and the talk of an American spin-off series, its now been revealed that Squid Game: The VIP Challenge will arrive very soon, featuring some famous names!.
What is Squid Game: The VIP Challenge?
It looks like Squid Game: The VIP Challenge is a celebrity version of Squid Game: The Challenge, which sees eight celebs become the show's VIPs.
Netflix say: 'What’s one way to raise the stakes in an already stressful, deeply unpredictable, and downright diabolical competition? Let eight VIPs enter the game.
'Celebrities are shaking up the world of Squid Game to put their wits, strategies, and skill sets to the ultimate test in Squid Game: The VIP Challenge. In the video below, the masks come off to reveal who will be battling it out in Netflix’s most cutthroat reality competition series'.
As fans will know, Squid Game: The Challenge is a Netflix reality competition series where 456 real players compete in games inspired by the award-winning drama, battling it out to win a huge $4.56 million cash prize.
At this stage, it's unclear if the 456 non-famous contestants will still be involved like they are in the first two series of Squid Game: The Challenge, and what aspect of the game the VIPs will actually be involved in.
Netflix have promised that more details about the show will be announced in due course.
Who is taking part?
Eight celebs have been announced for the show, including Spice Girls singer Mel B, and Viper, who was a contestant on series two of The Challenge.
Reacting to the news of her involbement, Mel B wrote on social media: 'Squid games are about to get REALLY Scary !! Yes that’s right it’s gonna ME behind the mask and out to ink everyone in Squid Games VIP challenge - watch it if you dare!!
'The masks are on. The stakes are higher.
'Thrilled to announce that I’m joining Squid Game: The VIP Challenge, coming soon to Netflix'. (sic)

When does it start?
There's no details about when the series will begin, but we expect it will be later in 2026.
How can I watch it?
Just like the rest of the franchise, Squid Game: The VIP Challenge will air exclusively on Netflix.
After the news of Squid Game: The VIP Challenge was announced, fans of the show were quick to react to the new concept.
One wrote: 'This won't hit anywhere near the same. The whole point of the show is giving everyday, often relatively poor people the chance to change their lives. You can see and feel how much it means to them and how much they want it. This will not be remotely similar'.
