Three police officers injured in crash in east London

They were struck by a grey Vauxhall Astra car which was found abandoned a short while later

Three police officers have been injured following a pursuit that ended in a crash in east London.

It happened at approximately 4.40pm last Friday (13th February 2026) on Mungo Park Road, Rainham.

A grey Vauxhall Astra failed to stop and drove erratically, leading to collisions with several other vehicles before eventually crashing into the police car.

Two male officers from the Roads and Transport Policing Command and one female officer from North Area Command Unit were assessed at the scene by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service.

The Met Police have confirmed their injuries are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.

The driver of the Astra left the scene, and the vehicle was located abandoned shortly after.

Detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating the incident, and no arrests have been made.

Acting Detective Sergeant Michael Carroll is urging witnesses to come forward, particularly those with dashcam footage or CCTV evidence from local premises.
