Three people from Wolverhampton have been charged following an investigation into nearly 30 cash machine raids across the UK that allegedly saw a criminal gang steal over £300,000.

Police say the raids began in February and involved the use of specialised equipment to break into buildings containing cash machines in areas including the West Midlands, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Wales and the West Mercia police region.

The gang reportedly carried out 27 raids, with 14 of them deemed successful.

Among the incidents was a burglary on 25th June this year at a Santander branch on Stourbridge High Street, where a cash box was taken.

As part of the ongoing investigation, five individuals were arrested on the morning of Thursday, 18th December, during a pre-planned police operation.

Yesterday, police charged 43-year-old David Price of Blakenhall, 38-year-old Adam Walker of Moseley, and 40-year-old Joanne McGregor of Wednesfield.

They are now each accused of conspiracy to burgle, conspiracy to handle stolen goods, and possession of criminal property.

The three are scheduled to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court today, 20th December.

Two other men arrested during the operation have been released on bail while investigations continue.

The investigation is part of Operation Target, a West Midlands Police initiative dedicated to tackling serious and organised crime around the clock.
