Detectives investigating the death of a man in a stabbing in Birmingham have made a second arrest.

A 23-year-old man is being questioned on suspicion of the murder of a man in the Small Heath area of the city on Saturday evening.

A 28-year-old man who was also arrested has been released on bail.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said:

"We've arrested a man on suspicion of murder following a fatal stabbing in Birmingham at the weekend.

"A man was found with serious injuries in Swanage Road, Small Heath, at around 6.40pm on Saturday (20 December).

"Sadly nothing could be done to save him and he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"Following enquiries we've today detained a 23-year-old man on suspicion of murder and possession of a knife. He has been taken into custody for questioning.

"A 28-year-old man previously arrested has been bailed with conditions."
