Death of man in Westminster being treated as murder

Emergency services were called to reports of a stabbing last night

A murder investigation is underway after a 26-year-old man suffered fatal stab wounds in central London.

Police were called at 10.17pm last night (Friday 27th March 2026) to reports of a stabbing in Abbey Orchard Street in Westminster.

The injured man was treated at the scene before being rushed to hospital, where he died a short time later.

The man’s family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.

Detective Superintendent Dean Lanfear from the Metropolitan Police said:

“My thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends today as they process the loss of their loved one.”

He added that currently, no suspect has been apprehended, and the police are maintaining an open stance regarding the incident's circumstances.

Police are conducting patrols in the area to provide a visual deterrent and offer reassurance.

A post-mortem is due to take place soon.
