Man arrested as murder investigation launched in Thorpe St Andrew
A woman in her 40s was found fatally injured in the street.

A woman in her 40s has died and a man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after an incident in Thorpe St Andrew.
Police were called to Catherine Gardens shortly before 11.45pm on Saturday 17th January, following reports of a woman injured in the street.
The woman was sadly declared dead at the scene, prompting detectives to launch a murder investigation.
A man in his 60s was arrested on suspicion of murder in Dereham Road in the early hours of Sunday 18th January. He is currently being held at Wymondham Police Investigation Centre.
Police are specially working on the areas of Catherine Gardens and Dereham Road, which remain cordoned off, and Yarmouth Road is closed between Pound Lane and School Avenue while inquiries continue.
Leading the investigation, Detective Superintendent Stacey Murray said:
“We are in the early stages of this investigation working to establish the sequence of events which led to the woman's death.
“However, we do believe this to be an incident in which both parties were known to each other.
“We would urge anyone with information that could help the investigation, whether it concerns the incident itself or the events leading up to it, to get in touch.”
