Man arrested and homes evacuated after explosion and fire on Fylde coast

A man has been arrested following a suspected arson attack and explosion at a property on the Fylde coast.

Emergency services were called out to Carr Lane, Hambleton just before 9.55am this morning (27th March) after reports of a fire.

A number of properties have been evacuated and Carr Lane remains closed.

Five fire crews from Preesall, Bispham, Fleetwood, South Shore and Blackpool were sent to the scene this morning.

Crews have been working to ensure the area is safe.

The fire in its early stages

A 54-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of Arson with intent to endanger life.

He has been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

No other injuries have been reported.

John, the local vicar who lives opposite to where it happened told us "I heard this enormous bang which sounded like a bomb going off.

"I've never seen anything like it. It was definitely a shock."
