A man has been charged with attempted murder following a serious collision in Norwich involving a cyclist.
Police say they responded to a report on Friday, 8th May 2026, that the driver of a white Mercedes 'deliberately hit' a cyclist on Chartwell Road just after 5pm.
The cyclist, a man in his 50s, sustained serious head injuries and remains hospitalised in critical condition.
The driver, identified as David Morgan, 40, from Bedford, failed to stop at the scene.
He was subsequently arrested on Bignold Road, Norwich, shortly before 7pm and questioned at Wymondham Police Investigation Centre.
Morgan faces charges of attempted murder and driving with excess alcohol and has been remanded in custody.
He is scheduled to appear at Norwich Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning, 11th May 2026.
Investigators are urging anyone with dashcam footage or information regarding the driving manner of the white Mercedes prior to the collision to assist their inquiries.
