Fire crews have tackled a blaze in the multi-storey car park at Addenbrooke's Hospital, which left a number of vehicles damaged.

Emergency services were called just after 4pm on Saturday (13 December), with 13 crews being dispatched.

More than 30 firefighters were involved in the response, which affected the second floor of car park one at the hospital.

There were no reported injuries.

An update from Cambridgeshire Fire Service said crews "worked hard to contain the fire and stop it from spreading further."

Firefighters have remained on scene overnight to check for hotspots and to dampen down the area.

The service added that an investigation to establish the cause of the fire will take place once it is safe to do so.

In a message to staff and visitors, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: "If your car is in car park one and you need to get back on site tomorrow (Sunday) for work or clinical care, either please make alternative arrangements or we will support you to do this.

"We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused and thank you for your understanding.
