15 year old killed in two car crash in the Scottish Borders

Police are appealing for information following the death of a 15-year-old boy in a crash on the A701.
The incident happened around 2:40pm on Friday, 17 April at Hearthstane near Tweedsmuir in the Scottish Borders.
The crash involved a black MBW 530e and a yellow Fiat 500 Abarth. Emergency services attended, including an air ambulance, and the 15-year-old passenger in the Fiat was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 54-year-old male driver of the Fiat and his 21-year-old male passenger were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The 27-year-old male driver of the BMW and his 26-year-old female passenger were taken to hospital as a precaution. He was subsequently arrested and released pending further enquiries.
Police are asking witnesses to come forward.
Sergeant Jamie Humpage said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the boy who died, and they have asked for privacy at what is a very difficult time for them.
“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are asking anyone in the area at the time who saw what happened to get in touch.
“Please also check any dash-cam footage you have to see if it has captured something that could assist with our investigation.”
