Ever since Amber Davies took over from Dani Dyer on Strictly Come Dancing, she has received online abuse from viewers who believe she has an unfair advantage, due to her appearance in West End musicals. Now Amber has responded with a powerful message to her fans and 'the younger women of our future'.

The Strictly contestant, who is best known for taking part in Love Island in 2017, as well as starring in West End productions of 9 to 5: The Musical and Back to the Future: The Musical, shared a message on her Instagram Story, telling fans: 'To the younger women of our future, being ambitious does not mean you’re arrogant, loving yourself does not mean you’re stuck up.'

She went on to say: 'Being your own cheerleader is the kindest thing you can do to yourself, talk to yourself the way you would your best friend. Confidence does not mean you’re TOO MUCH. I want this message to be loud and clear. You are enough, exactly how you are, and don’t let anyone dull YOUR SPARKLE 💗'.

Amber then added: 'I didn’t exactly know what my true purpose was going to be for Strictly, now I know. Whilst my engagement is hot, I feel like this is a very important message.'

Many fans have also come out in support of the actress, with one writing on X: 'She is an exceptional dancer who doesn't deserve hate!', and another saying: 'She is certainly a talented young woman'.

Over the weeks, Amber has been the subject of online abuse with many thinking she has an unfair advantage due to her experience in the West End. Since Amber joined the show she has been in three dance-offs with her dance partner Nikita Kuzmin.

The most recent dance-off was last weekend, when EastEnders actress Balvinder Sopal and her professional partner Julian Caillon left the show, after Amber and Nikita were voted unanimously by the judges to be kept in the show.

During the show, Nikita showed his support for his dance partner saying: "You were always so kind, you’re so caring. You care more about me when I’m supposed to care about you... You care about me every single day. You are such a lovely, positive person."

He added: "Please, please be kind because it costs nothing and you don’t deserve none of that."
