An inquest has opened into a fatal fire in Northamptonshire that resulted in the deaths of three people.

Opening statements of the inquest found that Emma Corn, aged 30; her four-year-old daughter Mayci Fox and a third person - Louie Thorn, aged 23 - were killed in the fire in Rushton near Kettering on March 28th.

The inquest heard that the three people had been inside the house on Beswick Close - near Station Road - in Rushton when the fire started.

Their home, a former historic station house, was soon set ablaze, with statements revealing the victims died as a result of smoke inhalation.

Emergency services were called to the fire at around 10:30pm on March 28th, following reports of a major fire.

The incident prompted a major response from the emergency services, in particular Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service - who called on engines from across the county.

Senior coroner Anne Pember opened the inquests into Corn, Fox and Thorn's deaths at Northampton Coroner's Court on Thursday (April 10th).

Further details regarding the incident will be revealed over the course of the inquest.
