Man charged with murder following Sidcup pub assault death
Stuart Tickner died in hospital five days later.
A man has been charged in connection with the murder of a “bubbly” and “joyful” man who suffered fatal head injuries following an assault outside a pub in south-east London.
Stuart Tickner, 50, was found unconscious in Station Road, Sidcup, at around 1am on May 25 and taken to hospital, where he died five days later, the Metropolitan Police said.
Liam Burgess, 36, of Dovedale Close, Harefield, was remanded in custody after appearing at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with murder and possession of a weapon in a public place, the force added.
'Lit up any room'
Mr Tickner’s daughter Megan Tickner paid tribute to him on Facebook, saying: “It is with a heavy heart and immense sadness that I am having to share that we lost my Dad on Saturday May 30.
“A week ago, he was unfortunately a victim of a serious assault which left him with head injuries which were so severe he could not recover from them.
“He lit up any room he walked into and was a bubbly, joyful soul. I will cherish the memories of us going to concerts together and singing karaoke.
“I’ll love and miss you always Dad.”
Mr Tickner’s family are being supported by specially-trained officers, police said.
Burgess is due to appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday.
