An investigation has started into the death of a man in Swindon, which Wiltshire Police say is not related to a recent terror arrest.
A man in his 20s was found injured outside a property in Manchester Road at around 5.10am this morning (Wednesday 2nd July 2025).
He died in hospital a short while later.
Police are urging a cyclist who reported what happened to get in touch.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker from Wiltshire Police said:
“This is a serious incident which has sadly resulted in a man losing his life.
“An investigation is ongoing and we are keeping an open mind as to the circumstances that led to this man’s death.
“We are asking members of the public to help by sharing any information they may have in relation to this. We would especially like to hear from a male, who was on an electric bike, who initially approached officers to make them aware of the incident but then left the scene without leaving his details.
“We appreciate the concern the public will have, given the recent terrorism arrest in the area, however it’s important to stress that there is no information to suggest that this incident is linked.”
Wiltshire and Swindon’s Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Wilkinson said neighbourhood policing teams would be on hand and visible in the area to help reassure residents.
He added: "I have every confidence in Wiltshire's Police’s investigation teams and their ability to solve this crime.
"I can provide the reassurance to the public - and the local community - that all necessary Wiltshire Police resources will be targeted towards that.
"My thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of the victim."
Officers are urging anyone who may have witnessed what happened or has any information about the circumstances surrounding the incident to get in touch.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting log 47 of today (02/07).
