The flight, which had left from Hurghada, forced to land in Athens
An easyJet flight bound for Manchester was forced to make an emergency landing after the pilot collapsed midway through the flight.
The flight, which had ben coming from the Egyptian resort of Hurghada, was making its return to the UK on Saturday evening (February 8th), when the incident occurred.
As a result of the medical emergency on the flight, the flight was forced to divert to the Greek capital of Athens, where passengers were offloaded for the night.
In a statement, easyJet said: "easyJet can confirm that flight EZY2252 from Hurghada to Manchester yesterday evening was diverted to Athens due to the Captain requiring medical assistance.
"The First Officer performed a routine landing in accordance with standard operating procedures and the aircraft was met by paramedics on arrival in Athens."
The current condition of the pilot remains unknown, while passengers were put up in hotels for the night before being able to reschedule their return flight home on Sunday (February 9th).
“As a result the onward flight was delayed overnight and passengers will continue their journey to Manchester today," the airline said.
"We did all possible to minimise the impact of the disruption and arranged hotel rooms and meals where available.
"We would like to apologise to passengers for the inconvenience caused and thank them for their patience and understanding."
