ITV/STV's new primetime prank show Celebrity Sabotage finally has a start date! The upcoming new series, which was originally due to air in 2025, will see a bunch of famous faces unleash acts of sabotage on members of the public, in an attempt to win money for them.
What is Celebrity Sabotage?
Created by ITV and Lifted Entertainment, each episode of Celebrity Sabotage sees members of the public turn up to film what they think is a new ITV/STV entertainment show, fronted by fake hosts in the form of Clare Balding, Matt and Emma Willis, Monica Galetti, Jason Fox, Sara Davies and Rylan Clark.
Hidden behind the scenes is a group of celebrities who watch them and carry out sabotage missions, all in an attempt to grow the prize pot for the contestants. Everyone involved, from the celebrity saboteurs and the crew to the famous hosts, is in on the secret.
Katie Rawcliffe, Director of Entertainment and Daytime, says of the show: "Celebrity Sabotage is a unique combination of hidden camera, reality, and gameshow, delivering big laughs with a fantastic celebrity cast. We are delighted to bring this exciting new format to the ITV audience."
Richard Cowles, Managing Director of Lifted Entertainment, added: "Whether it be hidden camera, reality, or game shows, at Lifted Entertainment we specialise in creating formats that have broad appeal. Celebrity Sabotage incorporates all of those disciplines in a prime time show that sees celebrities duping members of the public...
"There are loads of laughs and the celebrities’ sabotage is all for a good cause - to win them loads of cash. We’re delighted that Katie and the ITV Entertainment team have green lit the show and we can’t wait to get going."
Which celebs are taking part?
Hits Radio presenter Sam Thompson will be joined by The Masked Singer host Joel Dommett, podcaster GK Barry, and Loose Women star Judi Love as the main saboteurs.
Sam Thompson said: “Filming this show was like a military operation. Think mission impossible (and I'll let you in on a little secret, sometimes our missions felt impossible) but with more laughs. Working alongside Joel, Judi and GK was so much fun, and getting the chance to win money for the contestants more than made up for the times I had to dress up as a bush and stand in a field for hours!”
Joel Dommett added: “This show is absolute madness. Turns out making a new fake reality TV show every week and secretly sabotaging the real contestants to win them money is REALLY FUN! It's honestly the most I've laughed in ages. Such a lovely bunch of fellow saboteurs too - Sam, GK, Judi and me made some mischief that needs to be seen to be believed.”
Judi Love said: “I haven't laughed this much in a while! From the first day of filming to the very last moment, it was an unforgettable experience. I loved working with my co-conspirators — Joel, GK and Sam. We got to dress up in some unique costumes, pull off hilarious pranks and all for a good cause — which is exactly my kind of fun.”
GK Barry then commented: “This show is iconic. You get two shows for the price of one! It has everything you want in a new entertainment show - high stakes, high drama and LOTS of laughs. And we get to win members of the public money. What's not to love? I can't wait for everyone to see it.”
Over the series, the quartet will be joined by guest stars including Olivia Attwood, Jill Scott MBE, Fay Riply, Jo Brand, Harry Redknapp and Guz Khan.
Clare Balding, Matt and Emma Willis, Monica Galetti, Jason Fox, Sara Davies and Rylan Clark also star as the show's fake hosts.
