The family of a man killed in Leicester have paid tribute to him, calling him a "loving father and partner" as police continue the investigate.

James 'Jimmy' McKeown, 62, was found unresponsive in Beaumont Leys Park on Monday evening (6 April). He was taken to hospital but later died.

A family spokesperson said: “To say that the events of yesterday evening have changed our lives forever is an understatement. We have lost a loving father, brother, partner and grandfather, our lives will never be the same again.

“Jimmy has lived locally for nearly 20 years and was well known in the community, affectionately known to many as Spider.

“We would ask that people respect our privacy and give us the time to come to terms with what has happened.”

A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Detective Inspector Kevin Hames from East Midlands Murder Investigation Team, said: “This is an extremely difficult time for Jimmy’s family and specialist officers continue to support them.

“If you have any information about the incident, or the circumstances leading up to it, and have not yet spoken with officers, we would ask that you get in touch.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 or report via www.leics.police.uk, quoting incident 572 of 6 April.

An area within Beaumont Leys Park was cordoned off while officers carried out their enquiries, but that has since been lifted.
