A man from Wigan who has been handcrafting wooden toys for disadvantaged children has received a message of thanks from Sir Keir Starmer, describing his efforts as āthe best of Britain.ā
Bill has spent time making hundreds of toys from his workshop to bring joy to children in need across the area.
In a video message, Starmer praised Bill's dedication to his community:
āItās incredible to see what heās doing and to see the toys that heās making. I think by hand, each of them, which is an incredible contribution.
Often people say, you know, we donāt pull together as a community. And they point to differences and divides. Actually, Iāve always said that give people in Britain half the chance and theyāll always want to try and help other people.
And Bill sort of personifies that.ā
Starmer also commended Bill for reminding everyone that Britain is 'reasonable' and quick to help others when given the opportunity.
Billās workshop initiative demonstrates how individuals can make a difference in their communities by showing compassion and creativity.
