Teenager arrested over suspected machete attack in Shirley

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a suspected machete attack against three teenagers in Shirley.

West Midlands Police were called to reports of an incident on Stratford Road at around 9pm last night (Saturday 7th February 2026).

Two boys, aged 14 and 15, were taken to hospital for injuries believed to have been caused by a machete.

While their injuries are not life-threatening, both boys are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

Another 15-year-old boy was punched during the attack but did not require hospital treatment.

Authorities have arrested the 14-year-old on suspicion of wounding with intent.

He remains in custody as investigations continue.

West Midlands Police believe the attack was targeted and have increased patrols in Shirley to reassure the community.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses or those with relevant footage to contact them on 101, quoting crime number 20/140175/26.
