Five arrested after Swindon shooting leaves man hospitalised

Police investigate gunfire incident in Gorse Hill neighbourhood

Five people have been arrested following a shooting incident in Gorse Hill, Swindon, which resulted in a man in his 30s being hospitalised with a serious but stable condition from a suspected gunshot wound.

The shooting occurred just before 9pm on St Paul's Street. Officers were promptly on the scene following reports of gunfire. A police cordon has been established in the area, spanning St Paul's Street and Queens Drive, as investigations continue.

Arrest details

Those taken into custody include:

A 51-year-old arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

A 32-year-old arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and involvement in the supply of Class C drugs

A 19-year-old arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender

A 33-year-old arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession with intent to supply nitrous oxide for wrong inhalation

A 16-year-old arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession with intent to supply nitrous oxide for wrong inhalation

All five individuals are currently being questioned by police.

Public appeal

Swindon police are urging anyone with information that may aid their inquiries to come forward. Witnesses or those with relevant information are asked to contact them at 101, quoting log number 416 of 20th June 2026.

The community is advised that there will be an ongoing police presence as officers work to piece together the events leading to the shooting. The aim is to swiftly secure justice and ensure public safety in the affected neighbourhood.
