Hertfordshire Police has confirmed that a second woman injured in a collision in Rickmansworth has died in hospital.

Officers were called to a collision on White Hill, near Mount Vernon Hospital, on Tuesday (24 March).

A silver Kia Picanto and a grey BMW 118i M Sport were involved and emergency services, including fire, ambulance and air ambulance, attended the scene.

The driver of the Kia, a woman in her 60s, was airlifted to hospital with life threatening injuries, and died in hospital last night.

The driver’s 90-year-old mother was a passenger in the Kia, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 22-year-old man from Watford was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, driving over the limit of a specified drug and possession of cannabis.

He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable Dale Morris, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is a devastating loss of a mother and daughter, and my thoughts are with their loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.

“Our enquires are ongoing as we continue to establish the full circumstances of the collision. If anyone has any information, or captured any dash cam footage, please report it to the police.”
