Four arrested as murder investigation launched in Stoke-on-Trent
A man has died and another is seriously injured after violence broke out in Meir

Four people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died in Stoke-on-Trent.
Police were called at 11.45pm on Friday (9 October) to Brookhouse Road in Meir following reports of violence.
A man in his late teens was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.
Another man, also in his late teens, was taken to hospital by ambulance with life-threatening injuries.
He remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital.
Staffordshire Police said four people were arrested this morning (10 October):
A 17-year-old boy, from Stoke-on-Trent, arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder
Two 18-year-old men, both from Stoke-on-Trent, each arrested on suspicion of murder
A 20-year-old man, from Stoke-Trent, arrested on suspicion of murder.
Detective Inspector Katie Gregory, who is the senior investigating officer in the case, said: “This is a devastating time for all those affected by what has happened overnight.
“I'd like to reassure the community that there is no wider risk to them and we are doing all we can to understand the circumstances that led to this tragic incident.
“I would urge anyone who was in the area at around 11.30pm yesterday, who hasn’t already spoken to us, to make contact with us as part of our investigation.”
A cordon remains in place at the scene and police are keen to speak to anyone who may have relevant information or footage.
