8 children treated for minor injuries after school bus collides with bridge in Chorley

Emergency services have been dealing with a school bus crash in Chorley, Lancashire after it struck a bridge.

It happened on Spendmore Lane in Coppull just after 12:30pm this afternoon.

Chorley Police say around 30 children were assessed by medical staff and 8 were treated by paramedics for minor injuries.

An 8-year-old boy has been taken to hospital with a cut to the head.

The driver and two teachers who were onboard the bus are unhurt.

A road was closed for around three hours whilst emergency services dealt with the incident but it has now reopened.
