A woman has died after a car hit two pedestrians in Sutton Coldfield.

Police were called to Brassington Avenue shortly before midnight.

One of the pedestrians, a 21-year-old woman, died from her injuries at the scene, while another woman was treated for a leg injury which is not thought to be life-threatening.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

They remain in custody this morning while police enquiries continue.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who died at this time.

"We are continuing our enquiries and are keen to hear from anyone who was driving near the scene or in the streets nearby before or after the collision happened.

"Any dashcam or doorbell footage you have would really help our investigation."
