A car collided with a tree near Defford last night
A teenager has died following a crash near Defford in Worcestershire.
The incident occurred around 9.20pm last night (Saturday 12th September 2026), when a blue Volkswagen Polo travelling along the A4104 from Defford towards Dunstall collided with a tree between the carriageway and the slip road to Bourne Road.
A 16-year-old boy, a passenger in the vehicle, suffered significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other passengers, aged 16 and 17, sustained minor injuries.
An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drink and drugs. He has been interviewed and bailed as investigations continue.
Detective Sergeant Rose Hughes from West Mercia Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit said:
“Firstly, our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the boy who tragically lost his life yesterday. They are being supported by specialist officers and will be kept informed throughout the investigation process.
