Identity of masked Static-X frontman 'revealed' thanks to neck tattoo
This looks legit
The identity of the mysterious mask-wearing frontman of Static-X has reportedly been cracked thanks to a neck tattoo.
Static-X first revealed their enigmatic new frontman to the world back in March when original members Tony Campos, Ken Jay and Koichi Fukuda announced the Wisconsin Death Trip 20th Anniversary tour in memory of their titular singer Wayne Static, who died in November 2014.
Explaining why they kept the singerās identity a secret, drummer Ken Jay said in March: āWe understand that people are naturally going to want to know more about who is singing.
āWe have discussed this at great length and we came to the conclusion that at this time, it would be inappropriate for us to put the focus on anyone other than Wayne, Tony, Koichi and myself. It feels like the best way for us to celebrate Wayneās legacy, along with the 20th anniversary of Wisconsin Death Trip, with all of our fans.ā
The band have been playing shows all over North America and Europe this year ā including 10 UK shows which wrapped up last week ā and Danish website Metal A Day believes they now know who the singer is.
Metal A Day has published a photo of the Static-X frontman alongside an image of Edsel Dope, the lead singer from Dope ā the opening band on Static-Xās European trek. Check it out here.
From the two pictures, the giveaway neck tattoo looks absolutely identical.
Static-X themselves have yet to comment.
