Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson is currently recording his eighth solo album at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Northridge, California.

Bruce released his last solo album, the critically lauded ‘The Mandrake Project’, in March 2024 almost two decades after his previous record, ‘Tyranny of Souls’.

Fortunately, fans shouldn’t have too long to wait for the next album, which Bruce has previously revealed will be tentatively released in 2027.

Over the weekend, esteemed rock vocalist Jeff Scott Soto posted a photo on Instagram of himself with Bruce at Studio 606 while clutching a can of Trooper beer.

Updating fans on Bruce’s progress, Soto wrote: “How lucky am I? I went to say hello to my dear friend Mistheria who I worked with on his Vivaldi Metal Project and of course is part of Bruce Dickinson’s solo endeavors these days.

“Arrived at Dave Grohl’s studio right as Bruce was doing some final vocals to his new album. He finished and came out to chat/hang a little but then asked if I wanted to hear a few of the songs...umm, YEA!!

“I must say besides the fact that he is still singing at the top of his game, the songs, performances, and the overall vibe I got from all was beyond impressive, I think this outing will be one of his strongest ever outside of the Maiden camp.”

On Tuesday (3rd February), Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser revealed further details about the album and shared a video of himself and Bruce playing percussion at Studio 606 for an album track.

Amongst his other photos are an image of Dave Grohl with mixing and mastering engineer Brendan Duffey, who also worked on 2024’s ‘The Mandrake Project’.

Kisser enthused: “What a privilege! Truly an honour to participate on the new album of the great master of metal - a gentleman and a f---ing legend! Thank you for letting me play some percussion on the album!

“And (Dave Grohl) what a studio you created, simply magical. Hope you like the distortion from the new pedal (by Fuel Music Audio)🤘🏻 Heavy Metal rules!”

Sepultura vocalist Derrick Green shared a separate photo of himself and Bruce at Studio 606 last week, suggesting he may have some involvement in the record.

In August 2025, Bruce told Metal Hammer that his new solo material will include "bone-crushingly heavy" songs and tracks that "are just like tugging at the heartstrings".

"If it's heavy, it's heavy," Bruce explained. "But if it just happens to be acoustic, it's acoustic. That's the deal, you know? It's whatever the song dictates, whatever the story is you're trying to tell, but it's really exciting. I'm so stoked about these tracks. I played the demos to a few people in the record label and stuff, and everybody is like, 'Wow!'"

Bruce Dickinson said in a separate Charlie Kendall’s Metalshop interview last year: "The amazing band that is gonna record the new record with me is gonna be the same band that toured in Europe with me, and it's gonna be the same band that's gonna tour with me in 2027 when we release the new record.”

Bruce’s touring band consists of keyboardist Mistheria, drummer Dave Moreno, bassist Tanya O’Callaghan, and guitarists Chris Declercq and Philip Naslund.
