Green Day to perform at Super Bowl LX
Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool will play some of their biggest anthems

Pop punk heroes Green Day will kick off the 60th Super Bowl next month with a special opening ceremony performance.
Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool are taking to Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Sunday 8th February to play some of their "most iconic rock anthems" before the game starts.
The trio will lead off the new decennial tradition, which started at Super Bowl XX 10 years ago, in which past Super Bowl Most Valuable Players (MVPs) are honoured before the game.
"We are super hyped to open Super Bowl 60 right in our backyard!" Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong enthuses.
"We are honoured to welcome the MVPs who've shaped the game and open the night for fans all over the world. Let's have fun! Let's get loud!"
Tim Tubito, NFL senior director, event and game presentation, adds: "Celebrating 60 years of Super Bowl history with Green Day as a hometown band, while honouring the NFL Legends who've helped define this sport, is an incredibly powerful way to kick off Super Bowl LX.
"As we work alongside NBC Sports for this opening ceremony, we look forward to creating a collective celebration for fans in the stadium and around the world."
It’s previously been announced that Charlie Puth will sing the US national anthem The Star-Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl, while Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny performs the halftime show.
