Biffy Clyro's 'Opposites' Storming Towards Number One

It leads this week's album chart

Published 29th Jan 2013

Biffy Clyro are odds on to secure the album chart top spot on Sunday with their sixth long-player ‘Opposites’.

The epic double record shifted 33,018 copies on the first day of sales alone on Monday – incredibly almost the same as the rest of the top 10 combined!

If Biffy do top the charts it will be the Scottish rockers’ first ever number one record having previously hit number two with ‘Puzzle’ in 2007 and number three with ‘Only Revolutions’ in 2009.

Their first three albums – 2002’s ‘Blackened Sky’, 2003’s ‘The Vertigo of Bliss’ and 2004’s ‘Infinity Land’ – all failed to dent the top 40.

New releases do traditionally slow down sales-wise as the week progresses so it will be interesting to see what kind of lead Biffy have maintained come Sunday.

Their closest rival is the Les Miserables soundtrack while Fleetwood Mac’s seminal 1977 album ‘Rumours’ is sitting at number three.

To celebrate the release of ‘Opposites’, Biffy Clyro are In The Spotlight on Kerrang! Radio all this week. To find out more click here.
