In a world exclusive, Alex Baker gave Alissic’s new song ‘Be No Body’ its very first play on his Kerrang! Radio: Fresh Blood show last night (28th May).

Following hot on the heels of previous singles ‘Concrete’ and ‘Moonbeams’, ‘Be No Body’ is lifted from Alissic’s new EP ‘ARC 01: MAIDEN’, which is unleashed to the world this Friday (30th May).

Alongside the premiere of ‘Be No Body’, Alissic joined Alex Baker for a chat on his Fresh Blood show about the new record, what's been happening over the last few years and what the new tune is all about.

You can listen to ‘Be No Body’ and Alissic’s interview with Alex below at around the 20-minute mark RIGHT HERE and below.

Alissic says of the ‘ARC 01: MAIDEN’ EP: “This record is a scrapbook of everything in my head: sounds, feelings, dreams, nightmares, voice notes, frog rescue plans, spiritual awakenings, and a lot of late-night existential crises that somehow turned into pop songs. I wrote and produced all five tracks myself, with a little help from a few talented friends, including my husband Oliver Sykes, who owed me after I played a cyborg on his metal album.

“We recorded it between Brazil and the UK, on kitchen floors, inside jungle huts, and probably one or two haunted studios. the whole thing has been sitting with me for two years, while i battled with my old label, shed a few identities, and decided to start from scratch.

“Making this as an independent artist has been equal parts terrifying and freeing. I’ve taken back control of my art, my voice, my weird little universe. and yes, i shot the music videos for it while eight months pregnant. Hormones really don’t help when you’re trying not to laugh at a frog peer pressuring you into doing psychoactive beans.

“The songs explore transformation, memory, nature, and becoming your own kind of maiden (not the fairytale kind, but the chaotic, messy, real life one) the kind who believe in aliens, talk to frogs, and writes musical spells about it.

“Earlier this year i released CONCRETE and MOONBEANS (ft. Au/Ra), both with videos i poured my entire heart into. there’s more coming.

“I also launched ERFLING, a project using my music and art to support the original people of earth. that’s my mission outside the music, to give back where i can.

“ARC 01: MAIDEN is just the beginning of this new chapter. thank you for being part of it.”
