Teenager who stabbed pupil at a Nottingham school sentenced to over five years in Young Offenders Institution
A 15-year-old boy admitted stabbing another pupil and possessing two knives at Nottingham University Academy of Science and Technology
A 15-year-old boy has been sentenced to five years and seven months in a Young Offenders Institution, following a stabbing at a school in Nottingham.
The teenager, who cannot be named because of his age, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possessing two knives on school property.
He carried out the offences at Nottingham University Academy of Science and Technology (NUAST) in Dunkirk shortly after 1.30pm on Thursday, 5 March.
Police were called to the school at 1.36pm following reports of an assault. Officers arrested the teenager at the scene and seized two knives.
Another 15-year-old pupil suffered a serious stab injury and was taken to hospital. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
The teenager, who is from The Meadows, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on 27 May and admitted the offences.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Berryman previously said: "This incident has understandably been deeply upsetting for students, teachers and the wider school community.
"The victim's family, and others affected by what happened, are being offered support.
"Detectives and uniformed officers have worked quickly and I hope our response and these charges provide some comfort to those impacted.
"We are grateful for the support of the school and community during our investigation."
