Tributes paid to father found dead in Wolverhampton school grounds

His family are urging anyone with information to come forward

The family of a man who was found dead in schools grounds in Wolverhampton have paid tribute to him.

45-year-old Neil Thompson, who went by the nickname 'Chuck', was found with injuries on the grounds of Smestow Academy in Windmill Crescent yesterday morning (19th January).

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers are treating his death as unexplained and are investigating the circumstances around his death.

Mr Thompson was last seen at 1am on Monday on Wheatsheaf Road, Wolverhampton before his body was found over six hours later.

He was last seen wearing a distinctive camouflage jacket, grey gilet, jeans, and a beanie hat. He was also carrying a red rucksack and may have been wearing sunglasses.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact the police by calling 101 quoting log 1452 of 19 January.

Mr Thompson's family said, "Our beautiful son, brother, father and friend Chuck, very much loved in the community of fishing, his one true love.

"His love for life and funny stories touched the lives of so many people.

"To help us find closure as a family we urge anyone with any information or sightings to please get in touch."
